Applying for a business credit card

Applying for a business credit card may require different information to be provided depending on your type of entity and what type of credit card you apply for. All credit card applications are subject to ABC Bank’s lending criteria.

What we’ll need to know
Existing customers
If you’re already an ABC Bank business customer, just contact your Relationship Manager or call us to start your business credit card application.
New to ABC Bank?
Before opening a business account, both the business entity and all individuals who act on behalf of the business, will need to be identified.
Identification of the business entity
we’ll need some identification to show your business exists and the account is being opened for business reasons, which are different depending on the type of entity.
Common entities include:
- Sole trader
- Partnership
- Company
- Trust
we’ll let you know the documents you require when you contact us.
Documents for this could include:
- GST documentation
- Business tax returns
- Invoices
- Trust deed
- Letterhead and business cards
Personal identification
Individuals who will operate a business credit card or the account will need to have their identity and address verified. we’ll let you know the documents required when you contact us but they could include:
- US or overseas passport
- US or overseas driver’s licence
- Utility bill statements (for example gas, electricity, internet/phone lines)
- Current vehicle registration

Application requirements
Eligibility criteria
The following eligibility criteria applies for all business credit cards:
- Applicants and cardholders must be 18 years or older.
- Applicants must meet lending criteria.
- The card must be used for business expenses only.
- All cardholders must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
Credit history
As part of your application we may need to check your credit history and the credit history of your business. What we need to check depends on what sort of business entity you are and the type of business credit card you are applying for, so we can let you know when you contact us.
A good credit history is important because it helps to show that your business, or you, are financially responsible and able to manage your repayments. It may include previous loans, credit cards and hired equipment.
Visa Business Rewards
If you're applying for a Visa Business Rewards card, individual cardholders must earn over $28,000 per year.
